Davis Rally Ride

We met at the Pinicon and had a couple Davis Rally attendees join us for the ride. Lance was on his new Harley and led the first leg. We went up through Cresco stopping to walk up and down Main Street. Then on to Lanesboro. We stopped for a walk up and down main street there as well and after a bit of Ice Cream for sustinence we headed off to Chatfield. The roads were great and the day was about perfect. After Chatfield we headed back south through Lime Springs and then back to New Hampton. We made it back with time to spare for the Evening parade and it was a great trip with no incidents.

The suggestion was made that we do this same trip for the Davis Rally next year and maybe have it become an annual event. I though that was a great Idea and hope we can do much more with the Rally in the future.

Lance has pulled the plug!!!

Deputy Lance Manson has retired and will be missed by the Chickasaw County Sheriff's office. His last day and last acts were for the Davis Rally. He rode the lead bike in the Evening Parade and was honored by the Rally for his years of service later that night. It was a sad but happy day for all of us.

The retirement party is scheduled for Sunday, October 19th at the Fredericksburg City Hall from 2:00-5:00. More will be posted about this.

Ride Report 08/02/08

Another perfect day for riding!!! We have been very lucky after our first nightmare meeting in June. We met at 1300 for a lunch meeting. It was nice to welcome some new faces and see some new bikes. Larry showed up with his WAY COOL yellow Can Am Spyder. Looks just like something from the future.

We left through New Hampton heading west out of town on B-57 through Ionia. This is about the most scenic black top road in Chickasaw County. After passing through Chickasaw Park we turned south and went down through Nashua. We continued on B-20 out to the west turning north before coming into Charles City. We took a break at the Dairy Queen and Larry's new ride drew onlookers and interesting conversation. Some of us had to have a little ice cream for sustenence to get us going again.

We left heading north through Colwell and then Alta Vista. The group split up at this point to head their own ways. I must say it was a nice ride and the weather was perfect again. We only did about 70 miles as a group this time but most had some distance to go to get home.
I had a great time getting to know a couple new people and hope to see more at future rides!

Guns & Hoses Ride 07/31/08

The 5th annual Guns & Hoses Ride was a bit soggy at the start but a good day for those who stuck it out. Chuck McNally put together a great program and ride. New member James Ward of the Postville PD and I attended. We met at my house and rode in heavy fog up to Osage. It was cool and very damp. On arrival Our Saviors Lutheran Church we got warmed up by a good breakfast and lots of coffee. The only cost was a free will donation for the Church. At just after 9:00 am there was a program and the presentation of a wreath and well as the four fives. At this point we usually would have got the ride started but with threatening bad weather most stayed put and waited out a pretty good storm. The coffee was good and we met and chatted with a great bunch of people.

The ride finally began at 11:00 on wet roads and in a little light mist to Cresco. The real excitement was provided by meeting trucks and a blast of crud and rain water from the road. By the time we got to Decorah the roads were dry and the sun was out. It was beautiful from there on out. The group dispersed a bit at Decorah. A group of us broke off and went the long way through Lansing. We checked out the scenic over look park and their new war memorial. What an amazing view from up there.

We then crossed over Lansing's metal grate bridge and then down the Wisconsin side to Prairie Du Chien. After a 1/2 price lunch buffet for all the riders at the casino and a bit more socializing we all headed our own way.

I plan to be back next year and I hope we can be well represented. There were several Minnesota Blue Knights there and I hope next year we can show off our colors maybe riding with and getting to know some of the other Blue Knights.
