Chapter News and Ride Reports

07/05/08

The Blue Knights Iowa V met for the second time and went for a great ride.

The meeting was in the 3 season room this time at the Pinicon. Very nice considering how great the weather turned out to be. We handed out the Blue Knights Id cards to the current members as well as patches, pins, stickers and booklets. We decided on our chapter patch set and style. All members will be receiving an email as to how and who to order from.

The ride was great. We headed out of town on what had to be the nicest day of the year so far. Marty got the ride started with a little excitement by smoking a tweety bird as we left the 4 lane north of New Hampton. The poor little guy never knew what hit him as he was catapulted 50 feet into the air in a cloud of tiny little feathers. Sad but Marty has a windshield and I am glad it was not me. Traffic was light and the new blacktop through Jerico is great. We checked out the flood damage and repair work in Spillville and continued on to Decorah.

We ran into several bikers at Culver's including Gordy B. and Mrs. Gordy. We had briefly misplaced cell phone in Decorah causing us to make a trip back through town but on such a nice day who cares where we were riding as long as we were riding. After Decorah we went up through Burr Oak and then over to Kendalville, south through Cresco and then back to Jerico. I was in the lead and it was a good thing as I am pretty sure my loud pipes frightened the deer off the road just as we were coming into Jerico. It was not all that close but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. (Loud pipes save lives you know!!!)

A good time was had by all and I look forward to our next ride.
